Daughters of the Resurrection: A Call to Women in Ministry
Inspired by Luke 24:1–10, Mark 16:1–7, and Matthew 28:1–10
Introduction
In the darkest moment of Jesus’ life—when betrayal, suffering, and death marked the scene—there were women who did not run away. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Salome, Joanna, and others stood firm, followed Him to the cross, and came to the tomb with love and boldness. They were the first witnesses of the resurrection, proving that God honors faithfulness regardless of gender. Their example is a powerful call for women in ministry today to rise up, speak boldly, pray fervently, and stand firm for their families, churches, and nations in these last days.
Faithful Women at the Tomb
Luke 24:1–10 records how early in the morning, these women came to the tomb with spices to honor Jesus. They were not deterred by fear, grief, or the guards. Instead, their love led them. And to their amazement, they were the first to hear the good news: “He is not here; He has risen!”
While many of Jesus’ male disciples had fled in fear, these women remained. Their devotion in adversity was met with honor—God entrusted them with the first resurrection message. Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and told her, “Go and tell my brothers” (John 20:17). Heaven recognized their courage and commissioned their voices.
God Honors the Voice of Women
In a society that often silenced women, Jesus lifted them. He didn’t just tolerate their presence—He affirmed their value. God chose women to carry the news of the risen Christ to the apostles. That alone breaks cultural barriers and affirms that women have a voice in the kingdom of God.
Galatians 3:28 declares: “There is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” God is not limited by human tradition. When the world dismisses you, God declares, “You are chosen. You are called.”
Women in Ministry Today: Unseen Yet Faithful
Many women in ministry today serve in obscurity—teaching, praying, preaching, building churches, mentoring others. Like the women at the tomb, they may not always receive public recognition, but heaven sees them. Your faithfulness behind the scenes is building the kingdom of God.
If you’ve been overlooked or resisted because of your gender, take heart. The risen Christ commissioned women to “go and tell.” He is still doing that today.
Now Is the Time to Rise Up
We are living in days of spiritual confusion and falling away. Families are under attack, churches are under pressure, and nations are in moral crisis. But just like those women who rose before dawn, women of God must rise. Now is not the time to be silent. Now is the time to:
- Preach the Gospel boldly
- Stand in prayer for your family
- Speak truth in your community
- Mentor and disciple the next generation
- Encourage your church and leaders
The Spirit of the Lord is calling daughters to prophesy (Acts 2:17-18). You are part of the mighty army of God rising in these last days.
You Are Not Alone
The women at the tomb went together. So should we. Sisterhood matters. Find strength in your community of faith. Encourage one another. Support and lift each other up. When one stumbles, let the others help her rise.
The Lord has not called you to walk this road alone. He has surrounded you with spiritual mothers, sisters, and daughters for such a time as this.
Be Bold. Be Faithful. Be a Daughter of the Resurrection
God is still calling women to carry His message. Whether you lead from a pulpit, a prayer closet, a classroom, a mission field, or your kitchen table—you are called for such a time as this.
Let the legacy of Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Salome, and Mary the mother of James live through you. Rise up with courage. Preach the unfiltered Gospel. Intercede for your household. Speak healing over your nation. Your Savior lives. Your voice matters. Your ministry counts.
Rise up, woman of God—rise up as a daughter of the resurrection!
