Introduction & Welcome to 2026 — First Things First: Starting 2026 Rooted in Christ

Welcome to 2026—a brand-new year, a brand-new page, and a brand-new invitation from God.

This devotional was created for one simple reason: to help you put Jesus first—first in your heart, first in your thoughts, first in your decisions, and first in your day. Because when Christ is first, everything else begins to fall into its rightful place. Not because life becomes perfect, but because your life becomes anchored—rooted in truth, strengthened by grace, and guided by the Holy Spirit.

A new year often comes with many voices: goals, pressure, expectations, fear, regret, excitement, and the desire to “get it right this time.” But before you run into plans, God calls you into something deeper: Presence. Alignment. Renewal. Intimacy. A fresh start that begins in the heart.

A Year That Starts in the Right Order

The theme of this January devotional is “First Things First: Starting 2026 Rooted in Christ.” That means we are choosing the right foundation before we build anything else. Many people begin the year with motivation—only to lose clarity later. But when you begin with Jesus, you begin with wisdom that lasts, strength that holds, and peace that remains.

This month is designed to help you:

  • Start again with confidence—not in yourself, but in Christ’s finished work.
  • Align your plans with God’s will—so your year is established by heaven, not driven by pressure.
  • Build spiritual consistency—seeking God first, feeding on His Word, and living Spirit-led.
  • Guard your heart—so bitterness, compromise, distraction, and fear do not hijack your progress.
  • Walk forward in faith—even when you don’t see the full picture yet.

Rooted, Not Rushed

This devotional is not meant to be a burden. It is meant to be a daily meeting place—a quiet space where your soul can breathe and your spirit can rise. Some days you will feel strong. Other days you may feel tired, uncertain, or distracted. That’s okay. The goal isn’t to “perform” spirituality—it is to return daily. Even if you only have a few minutes, God can do something powerful in a willing heart.

If you miss a day, don’t quit. Continue. Grace is part of the journey.

How to Use This Devotional

Each day includes:

  • A Scripture to anchor your faith
  • A Message to strengthen and guide your heart
  • An Action Plan to help you apply the truth practically
  • A Prayer to respond to God with sincerity and faith

Here are a few simple habits that will help you get the most from January:

  1. Choose a consistent time (morning is best if possible).
  2. Read slowly—let the Word and message settle in your heart.
  3. Do the Action Plan—even small obedience produces big growth.
  4. Pray out loud when you can—your spirit learns through voice and agreement.
  5. Write what God highlights—a sentence, conviction, encouragement, or instruction.

A Personal Invitation from Jesus

As you step into 2026, hear this clearly: God is not asking you to prove yourself. He is inviting you to abide. He is not demanding perfection—He is offering partnership. He is not measuring your value by your productivity—He is calling you into His love.

If last year was painful, confusing, or heavy… If you made mistakes and carry regrets… If you’re hopeful but also nervous… If you feel strong one day and unsure the next… This January is for you.

Because Jesus is still the One who says:

  • “Come to Me… and I will give you rest.”
  • “Follow Me.”
  • “My mercy is new every morning.”
  • “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

A Blessing Over Your Year

My prayer is that as you walk through these days, you will not only read devotionals—you will experience God. That you will feel your faith strengthened, your mind renewed, your heart softened, your habits refined, and your spirit awakened with fresh hunger.

May 2026 be a year where:

  • Jesus becomes your first love again
  • God’s Word becomes your daily bread
  • The Holy Spirit becomes your constant Helper
  • Peace becomes your portion, even under pressure
  • Joy becomes your strength
  • Obedience becomes your pathway
  • And faith becomes your lifestyle

Welcome to the Journey

Thank you for choosing to start this year with God. Thank you for choosing the quiet strength of devotion over the loud pressure of performance. Thank you for choosing what matters most.

Let’s begin January together with a simple but powerful decision: First things first. Jesus first. Rooted in Christ.

Opening Prayer for January 2026

Father, thank You for the gift of a new year. Thank You that in Christ, I am not trapped in my past, and I am not limited by yesterday. As I begin 2026, I choose to put You first—first in my heart, first in my home, first in my decisions, and first in my day.

Root me deeply in Jesus. Let my faith grow stronger, my mind grow clearer, and my spirit grow more sensitive to Your voice. Teach me to walk in wisdom, live in purity, love with sincerity, and trust You with confidence. I surrender my plans to You and ask You to establish my steps.

May this devotional month mark a new beginning in my spiritual life—a fresh hunger, a deeper prayer life, and a greater delight in Your Word. Lead me, keep me, and fill me with Your peace.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 1 — A New Year, A Fresh Start

2 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”

Message: A new year is more than a new calendar—it is a spiritual invitation to begin again with God. In Christ, you are not defined by what happened last year, what you lost, what you failed to do, or what people said about you. You are defined by what Jesus has done for you and what He declares over you. The world may remember your mistakes, but heaven remembers your redemption.

Action: Write down three things from last year you are surrendering to God, then write three faith-filled expectations for 2026. Read them aloud and say: “Lord, I release the old and receive the new.”

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that in You I am not the same person I used to be. I surrender every regret, every burden, and every disappointment from last year. Lead me by Your Spirit in 2026. I declare that I am a new creation in Christ, and I will walk forward in faith. Amen.

January 2 — Aligning Your Plans with God

Proverbs 16:3 — “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.”

Message: It’s easy to plan a year and then ask God to “support” it. But wisdom is when you invite God to shape it. When you align your plans with Him, you are not losing control—you are gaining direction. Let your planning become worship, your schedule surrendered, and your goals shaped by God’s voice.

Action: Set aside 15–20 minutes to present your 2026 plans to God. Pray: “Lord, what should I pursue, release, and adjust so I walk in Your will?”

Prayer: Father, align my steps with Your purpose. Close every door that would lead me away from Your will, and open the doors ordained for me. Establish the work of my hands and my heart in obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 3 — Seek Him First

Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…”

Message: One of the greatest dangers is not failure—it is distraction. Jesus didn’t say, “Seek God when you have time.” He said, “Seek first.” When God is first, the rest of life begins to arrange itself properly. Don’t just add God to your life—build your life around Him.

Action: Choose a daily quiet time (even 15 minutes). Decide where, when, and what you will read (start with a Gospel or Psalms).

Prayer: Lord, I choose You as my first love and first pursuit. Train my heart to hunger for Your presence and value Your Word. Let my life be anchored in You. Amen.

January 31 — Stepping into the Rest of the Year with Faith

Proverbs 3:5–6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

Message: As you close the first month of 2026, remember that God already holds the rest of the year. You don’t need to understand every step—you need to trust the One who directs your path. Trust is active reliance on God’s wisdom and timing.

Action: Write a short faith declaration for 2026 beginning with: “This year, I choose to trust God because…”

Prayer: Father, as I step into the rest of this year, I place my full trust in You. Guide my decisions, order my steps, and align my heart with Your will. I declare that 2026 belongs to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing Message from the Author

As you come to the end of this January devotional and step forward into the rest of 2026, I want to pause and thank you—not just for reading, but for choosing to seek God. In a world that constantly demands your attention, time, and energy, you made room for the most important relationship of all. That choice matters more than you may realize.

This month was never about perfection. It was about positioning—positioning your heart to hear God, your life to follow His leading, and your faith to grow deeper roots in Christ. If you were consistent, I rejoice with you. If you struggled, missed days, or felt distracted, I want you to know this: God’s grace covered every step. What matters is not how flawlessly you walked, but that you kept turning your heart toward Him.

My prayer for you is that what began here does not end here. May prayer continue to be your refuge. May the Word remain your daily bread. May the Holy Spirit stay your trusted Helper. And may Jesus always remain your first love—long after January has passed.

With gratitude and prayer,
Jesus Bible Foundation

Benediction

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He establish your steps and steady your heart as you walk forward in faith. May you remain rooted in Christ, anchored in truth, and strengthened by grace in every season of 2026.

May the peace of God guard your heart and mind. May the joy of the Lord be your strength when days are heavy and your song when days are light. May the Word of God dwell richly within you, guiding your decisions and shaping your character.

May the Holy Spirit lead you daily—comforting you when you are weary, convicting you when you drift, empowering you when you feel weak, and reminding you always that you belong to God.

Go forward in confidence, not in your own strength, but in the grace of Jesus Christ. Walk boldly, love deeply, trust fully, and remain steadfast in hope.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Salvation — You Must Be Born Again

Who can be saved? The message of salvation is for everyone. Jesus said, “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). This invitation includes every person, regardless of background or past.

How can you be saved? Salvation is a gift of grace received by faith in Jesus Christ—not earned by good works. It involves:

  • Acknowledging sin: Recognizing your need for God’s mercy.
  • Repentance: Turning away from sin and turning toward God.
  • Belief: Trusting that Jesus died for your sins and rose again.
  • Confession: Declaring Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9–10 promises: “If you confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

What Happens When You Are Saved?

  • Spiritual Renewal: You become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
  • Forgiveness of Sins: Your sins are forgiven and you are made right with God.
  • Eternal Life: You receive the gift of eternal life with God.
  • Changed Life: The Holy Spirit begins transforming your desires, thoughts, and lifestyle.

Prayer of Salvation

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead, I will be saved.

I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Next Steps After Praying

  • Baptism: Be baptized as a public declaration of your faith.
  • Join a church: Connect with a Bible-teaching community.
  • Read the Bible: Grow by spending time in God’s Word.
  • Pray regularly: Talk to God and listen for His guidance.
  • Serve others: Use your gifts to bless your church and community.
